Vehicle to Infrastructure
Spondit: the V2I controller that drops into the infrastructure you already have.
A smart roadside unit that communicates over MQTT/4G/5G for signal priority, hazard warnings, emergency override, and the patented Green Channel. C-V2X hardware ready. Backward-compatible with every major adaptive-signal controller on Indian roads. Plug-and-play, zero civil works.
How it works
A Smart IoT traffic discipline system: vehicles, roadside, and cloud on one fabric.
Spondit turns every signal cabinet into a two-way IoT endpoint. Connected vehicles, pedestrians, the roadside unit, and the cloud all communicate over MQTT on 4G/5G cellular, so the state of the corridor is known to everyone who needs it, in real time.
Vehicles publish
Connected vehicles (OEM OBUs + fleet telematics) and pedestrian beacons publish position, heading, speed, and request intents to the RSU over 4G/5G cellular. Spondit normalises every message so downstream consumers don't care what network it arrived on. C-V2X PC5 hardware is ready for when the spectrum is allocated.
RSU decides at the edge
The Spondit RSU fuses vehicle telemetry with the adaptive-signal plan, the corridor's AQM + weather data, and live challan rules, all on-device in sub-100 ms. No round trip to the cloud for safety-critical decisions; the cabinet ships the new signal plan straight to the legacy controller it drops into.
MQTT fabric fans out
Everything the RSU learns is published to the Spondbyte MQTT broker on topics like spondit/rsu/018/spat, spondit/corridor/hazard and spondit/vehicle/preempt. Command centre, VMS, nav-app partners, and state challan portals subscribe to exactly the topics they need, nothing more.
Cloud acts and audits
The Spondbyte cloud stamps every event, fans it into the VMS evidence pack, triggers SOPs in the command centre, and exposes the public event stream to consumer nav apps. Every action is tamper-evidently logged for seven years, court-admissible by default.

Capabilities
What the Smart Traffic Management System does on the corridor
Backward-compatible, plug-and-play
Spondit is not a forklift upgrade. Every RSU is designed to speak the existing cabinet protocols of the major adaptive-signal controllers already deployed across India, and every feature (green corridor, emergency override, challan broadcast) is delivered as a drop-in module inside the existing signal cabinet. Deployments ship with zero civil works, zero road closures, and no change to the physical signal plan.
Compatible with every major adaptive-signal controller in Indian ITS tenders.
Patented Green Channel: signals that talk to each other
Spondit traffic signals talk to each other. When one signal turns green, it tells the next downstream signal: the platoon will reach you in 30 seconds, so turn green. This signal-to-signal synchronisation creates an unbroken green corridor for all lanes. Police departments, traffic management authorities, and emergency services use it to plan cities, highways, and corridors for more efficient urban mobility. The patented algorithm coordinates adjacent signal phases with real-time traffic flow, vehicle density, and Spondit RSU telemetry, delivering measurable journey-time reductions of roughly 18% on deployed corridors.
Patent: IN 458332. Used by police departments, traffic authorities, and emergency services.
Emergency override
Registered emergency vehicles (ambulances, fire, police, VIP convoys) broadcast a preemption request via their onboard unit. Spondit RSUs along the route flip signals to green in sequence, hold conflicting phases, and notify approaching commuters via V2I and integrated nav apps. Average preemption latency under 200 ms. Corridor clearance time reduced by about 32%.
Navigation apps and vehicle OBU integration
Spondit traffic lights transmit live data (timer countdowns, signal state, phase schedules, speed advisories) directly to navigation apps and vehicle onboard units via a public SDK and REST API. Nav apps use this data for trip management, ETA refinement, and AI-powered route recommendations. Drivers without connected vehicles receive the same signal intelligence through the apps they already use. The result: fewer red-light stops, smoother commutes, and data-driven trip planning across the corridor.
Public SDK: developers.spondbyte.com. Six live nav-app integrations today.
Automated challan with in-vehicle notification
When Spondbyte vision AI detects a violation (overspeed, red-light, wrong-way, lane discipline), the evidence pack is generated, the challan is issued through the integrated state portal, and the notification is pushed to the offending vehicle's infotainment system within seconds via V2I. The driver pays, contests, or acknowledges it.
Real-time infrastructure & government data feeds
Spondit RSUs ingest and broadcast real-time data from connected infrastructure and government systems: weather advisories from IMD, road closures from NHAI, work zones from local authorities, school-zone timings, monsoon flooding alerts, public-event diversions. Drivers and connected vehicles receive a single, authoritative, real-time picture of the road ahead.
Advisories and alerts
Paired with Spondbyte AQM nodes, Spondit RSUs broadcast dynamic speed advisories based on real-time visibility readings, before drivers enter the affected zone. Vision-fused wrong-way detection on the same gantry, with sub-50 ms broadcast to vehicles in a 1 km cone, the regional command centre, and highway patrol dispatch. Fog incidents, stopped vehicles, and wrong-way intrusions are all surfaced through one alerting fabric.
